A post on PlayStation Blog this morning dropped a surprise announcement about Quantic Dream’s highly-anticipated upcoming game. Detroit Become Human will be releasing May 25th, a little under three months from now.
Throughout the blog post, director David Cage frequently emphasizes the level of ambition and hard work that went into Detroit: Become Human, focusing on how the game pushes the PS4 to its limits while crafting an entirely unique and powerful world and story. Player choices will be a major factor in the game, as Cage iterates:
Your actions have real and spectacular consequences: there are entire scenes that you can see or miss based on your actions, your closest allies may help you until the end or die just after you meet them, your destiny itself can be totally different depending on your choices. You must also be very careful with your three main characters, because any of them may die at any time.
The ambition that went into Detroit is clear, and it is currently shaping up to be an extremely expansive game. Sony seems to have full confidence in the game as well. Detroit: Become Human will be Sony’s second major release in just over a month, as God of War releases April 20th, and is one of the most anticipated games on the console this year. Sony is revving their engines, clearly hoping to enter E3 coming off of two critically-acclaimed hits.
