Today, PlayStation Blog revealed an upcoming limited edition PS4 Pro that will be available alongside God of War on April 20th. When paired with a 4K TV, the PS4 Pro promises to make God of War a stunning visual experience. The console itself sports a design inspired by Kratos’s axe, and the customized controller boasts a stylish Leviathon Gray finish. The bundle also includes a physical copy of God of War with digital content. Santa Monica Studio played a large part in the design on the specialized PS4 Pro. Shannon Studstill, the head of Santa Monica Studio, spoke on the inspiration for the console’s stylish design on PlayStation Blog:
The top surface is the Axe skill tree you’ll use in-game to upgrade your axe, along with the runic gem slots on the handle that enable unique special attacks. The side panels are trimmed with a beautiful Norse design, and the runes each represent a realm in the game. The Leviathan Gray DualShock 4 wireless controller has the Huldra Brothers brand on it (just like the Axe), and a very subtle God of War logo on the touchpad.
Available April 20th, God of War looks to take the beloved series in new directions, and, sandwiched between Ni No Kuni II and Detroit: Become Human, will be the second of three major PlayStation exclusives to release in three months.
