Numerous sites are echoing reports from COD information tycoon Charlie Intel that Black Ops 4 developer Raven Software has some major changes in mind for the upcoming fourth installment in the Call of Duty: Black Ops line. Apparently, the game will not have a traditional single player campaign like past Call of Duty games. Single player stories and missions have been integral to the Call of Duty series up to this point, but Raven Software wants to focus their efforts entirely on creating multiplayer and zombies.
Supposedly, one way in which Black Ops 4 will add to the series’ hallmark multiplayer will be with its own take on the battle royale craze. While not much information is available here, it will be interesting to see if this comes to fruition – and if it can challenge Fortnite and PUBG’s current stake in the genre.
Activision is set to formally announce Black Ops 4 at a community showcase one month from today on May 17.
