Award season for the gaming scene seems already long gone. But, one of the most prestigious awards in Europe was still pending. The BAFTA’s, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, Game Awards took place recently. God of War took yet another Game of The Year award at the BAFTAs.
God of War didn’t only receive the most important award of the night home. Out of its six nominations, Santa Monica’s masterpiece nabbed five. The categories God of War won included Best Music, Best Narrative, Performer, Audio Achievement, and Game of The Year.
Cory Barlog, God of War’s director, went on stage to receive the Game of The Year award. In his classic style, he delivered a heartfelt speech to the BAFTA’s auditorium. He said: “Creating things is really hard, it is daily failure, constant doubt, this feeling that what you’re doing is not that great. And every once in a while there is a shining moment where you say ‘aha, I got it’… followed by sobbing.”
It is worth noting that this is the most BAFTAs a single game has won since Inside won five awards in 2017. You can take a look at the complete list of winners here, and you can watch the whole ceremony here.
