It would appear that the long anticipated sequel to one of PlayStation’s most beloved titles is nearing completion. Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us: Part II is top of plenty of lists for games coming to Sony’s platform, and fans would be happy to learn the good news.
Co-game director Anthony Newman took to Twitter to send out a call for new hires to help “close out” development of the game, and the language suggests that it is in the home stretch now.
Lot of awesome positions open to help us close out this game… I especially want to highlight the Melee Animator position, I guarantee you will be working on some *dope* animations working with my good friend @Leethul ??? pic.twitter.com/vmlVkJlfTl

That said, even that can be a long process, but such wording from the co-game director seems to indicate the development is indeed wrapping up.
There is also no mention of The Last of Us: Part II, but as Naughty Dog has no other announced projects at the moment, it would make sense.
Naughty Dog VP Neil Druckmann shared back in April that the game has shot its final scenes with Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson participating, with the claim that The Last of Us: Part II has the “most ambitious cinematic shoot we’ve ever done.”

There remains no release date or window for the PlayStation exclusive, although a retail leak pointed towards an October release. With Sony pulling out of E3 2019, it remains to be seen when we will learn more about what could be another masterpiece from Naughty Dog.
