The Dark Anthologies: Man of Medan is the next step for Supermassive Games after Until Dawn. We tried the game at E3, and it was a cheesy, yet fun experience. It is exactly what Until Dawn was in essence, but with clear improvements in the mechanics and narrative. Today, Supermassive games announced in their official site that Man of Medan is getting multiplayer modes. Not one, but two ways to play with your friends. Alongside this announcement, they also presented a new multiplayer trailer.
With the new multiplayer options, players will be able to play the complete story online or offline. In addition, Supermassive games also announced that all upcoming games that will be part of The Dark Pictures Anthology will also have these features.
Shared Story Mode
In the Shared Story Mode, you will be able to join another friend online and play the story in co-op mode. According to Supermassive Games, in Man of Medan multiplayer, both players explore the world and make choices and actions that affect the outcome of the story and the fate of the characters. The scenes are played from a different perspective to the single-player experience. Meaning that players will experience these scenes together on some occasions and sometimes each player will play a totally separate scene, revealing new information as each one progresses in their end.
Movie Night Mode
The Movie Night Mode is aimed for couch co-op multiplayer fun. You can team up with up to four friends to get through the story. Only one controller is required in this mode and each player will take the role of one of the main five characters. This adds an interesting twist to the experience. Since, as the game progresses in its story, sometimes you will have to question if you want to take the decision that will save your character, but probably endanger another member of the party. To make the matters even tenser, at the end of the playthrough every action and impact through that session will be ‘judged’, granting each player achievements and rewards.
Multiplayer experiences are always great to have. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare knows this! They will unveil their multiplayer experience on August 1st, read all about it here.
