Creative Assembly, the studio behind the Total War series and Alien: Isolation is currently hard at work on a new IP, however, we have had no inkling of what it could be. A new job opening at the studio now points towards a possible hero-shooter, which was picked up by VG247.

The studio is on the lookout for a lead hero designer, who will be working on “a ground-breaking FPS.” This new hire will be leading the creative process for “exciting playable characters” that will each have “a range of amazing thought and play provoking specialities.”

It all sounds very familiar – a first-person shooter with a cast of unique characters that each have their own abilities and playstyles, such as Overwatch, Rainbow Six: Siege, and Apex Legends.

The job will also be requiring a “broad understanding of monetization, rewards, and art production” and a willingness to provide “guidance on visual design and cosmetics.” Microtransactions are all part of the hero-shooter economy, and this appears to strengthen the argument that Creative Assembly is working on such a title.

Other job listings earlier at Creative Assembly also referred to the new title as a tactical shooter, but with no new info. While hero-shooters are nothing new at this point, perhaps the selling point of “a ground-breaking FPS” will mean Creative Assembly is looking at something new to the genre, and shaking things up.

This can only be good for gamers, and we are certainly waiting with anticipation as the project eventually gets revealed.
