A new Metro game is in the works, after this year’s Metro Exodus.
This development came via a post on Instagram from series author Dmitry Glukhovsky, who basically confirmed that the first-person shooter series will be continuing. As the caption reads plain and simple, the “Metro gaming series will be continued. Working on the story.”
The very first game in the series, Metro 2033, was based off Glukhovsky’s book of the same name, but his second book, Metro 2034 was not adapted for a game. However, in an interesting twist, his third book, Metro 2035, is influenced by the game Metro: Last Light, which is the second entry in the game series.
Glukhovksy’s announcement comes at the same time as publisher THQ Nordic announced that developers 4A Games is developing the new entry. This was confirmed during a THQ Nordic investors conference by Group CEO Lars Wingefors, alongside plenty of other news.
THQ Nordic has also stated that Volition Games are developing a new Saints Row game, Dead Island 2 carries on development, and that Steve Ellis, one of TimeSplitters‘ original creators, is joining the team to “plot the future course of this franchise.”
Gunfire Games, the folks behind the recent Darksiders III, has also been formally acquired by THQ Nordic.
