Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that in a shocking turn of events, long-time Big Boss.Solid Snake voice actor David Hayter was not asked to voice Big Boss in the upcoming Metal Gear game, The Phantom Pain. The role was instead given to 24 actor Kiefer Sutherland who we got to hear a lot of in the recent prelude game to The Phantom Pain, Ground Zeroes.
Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima is well known for messing with fans and so there are still many gamers who think David Hayter will turn up in The Phantom Pain and that this is all an elaborate ruse by Hayter and Kojima. In a recent interview with Nerdreactor, Hayter made it clear that he will not be appearing in The Phantom Pain and that he has not signed a NDA. He said: “I never signed any NDA. When you’re not in a game, it’s very difficult for them to get you to sign anything pertaining to it. It’s disappointing that fans still believe I’m gonna be in it, because I think that reduces the pressure that should be put on Konami and Kojima to bring me back. So I’ll say it again, I’m not in the game. In any way.”
He also went on to talk highly about Sutherland, saying: “He’s a super nice guy and I respect him immensely. It just feels different from what we were doing before. But I’ve got nothing bad to say about the man. He’s a stellar Canadian. I respect him immensely.”
