If you’ve ever been playing Dark Souls and wondered what the game might have looked like on SNES or Genesis/MegaDrive, then you must think like indie developer Hibernian Workshop. The French developer is busy putting the finishing touches on their action RPG, Dark Devotion. The game finds you side-scrolling your way through a crumbling temple full of enemies. Take care of the standard enemies and there’ll still be 18 bosses for you deal with. Well, if that sounds like your kind of thing then you’ll be interested to know that the game now has a release date. Dark Devotion will launch for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on 24th October. The announcement was made via a new trailer for the game. You can check out the video below –

Dark Devotion certainly seems to have a solid, gothic vibe going on. The pixel art also looks particularly nice. However, with this kind of game, a lot depends on how the game actually plays. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until the game launches to see if it lives up to its potential. At least we won’t have to wait too long to find out how it stacks up.

Dark Devotion launches on 24th October.
