Unless Need for Speed Heat turns out to be absolutely amazing (and while we hope it will, we’re not holding our breath), Codemasters will be the developer of the best racing game of the year. Of course, which game gets that accolade depends on what type of racing you like. If you are a Formula One fan then this year’s entry in the F1 franchise will delight you. Alternatively, if you are more interested in track racing with a variety of different cars, then GRID will be your racing game of the year. In my opinion, though, it is their first game of the year, DiRT Rally 2.0 which takes the award.

This is the best rallying game I have ever played (and I’ve played a lot). Well, if you’ve been on the fence about picking up DiRT Rally 2.0 you can now try out the game for free. Codemasters has just released a Trial Version which will allow you to try out both the rally and rallycross modes. In rally mode, you will be able to try out three different cars on either a tarmac track in Spain or on dirt in New Zealand. The Rallycross offering sees you driving either an Audi, Ford, Peugeot, Renault, SUBARU, or Volkswagen around the rallycross circuit at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain.

You can download the trail from the PlayStation Store now. And if you want to know more about what you can experience in the Trial Version, here are a couple of trailers that Codemasters have just released.
