It has been a year since we last witnessed the glory that was Sony Santa Monica’s God of War. Countless awards and plaudits later, the studio is now holding a week-long celebration for Kratos and Atreus’ adventure.
Players can now get their hands on a new and free dynamic theme for the PS4, with the pair enjoying a peaceful ride on the Lake of Nine. A new PS4 avatar set will also be released for free on Wednesday, April 17.
Unfortunately, game director Cory Barlog has once again confirmed no DLC will be coming for God of War. However, there will be more surprises throughout the week of celebration.
Just so no one gets the wrong idea – there is no DLC coming for the game. Sorry.

Head of Santa Monica, Shannon Studstill, had some really pleasant words to say about the love and adoration that fans have shown, but admitted that making God of War was a tough a journey at times.
Change to a longstanding franchise comes with immeasurable doubt, a studio-defining risk, and a huge leap of faith. Thank you to our entire worldwide team; the Sony PlayStation family and you, the millions of God of War fans around the world who embraced that leap with us, on a journey we never expected. We made this journey together.
For fans hoping for even greater things to come, you can rest assured. According to Studstill,
“If I had to predict the next 20 years of Santa Monica Studio, I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to create games whose art reflects life, life reflects art, with stories we want to resonate for years to come,” she said.
“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing the new God of War and for helping Santa Monica Studio rise up to a new beginning as well. From our whole team to you, that has meant everything to us. Now, we have a long journey ahead.”
