Capcom’s new Monster Hunter World: Iceborne crossover event themed around Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds has begun today.

This event is a multi-stage crossover, with only the first quest being available today. Completing that quest will give players a chance to craft a special event-themed Light Bowgun: The Stormslinger Prototype. The quest, titled Into the Frozen Wilds, is available until January 10, 2020.

Roy Postma, an Art Director on the game, went into more detail about the weapon and its design process on the PlayStation Blog.

This crossover event for the RPG was announced back in August, but was finally dated two weeks ago. Alongside this event, Capcom is currently running a Resident Evil 2 themed crossover event within Monster Hunter World: Iceborne.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne released back in September and is the first and only major expansion for the 2018 monster-slaying adventure. The expansion was heavily praised upon release with fans calling it a worthy addition to the base game. the game is currently sitting at an 89 on Metacritic, with only positive critic reviews.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is available now on PS4. The Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds crossover event is available now until January 10, 2020.
