A new job listing has heavily hinted at the existence of a Naughty Dog online multiplayer game. Originally reported by GamesRadar, the job listing is for an online systems programmer for a new online experience. While it could be that this job listing is for an online mode in an as-of-yet unannounced Uncharted 5, it’s far more likely that it’s for the online game in the universe of The Last Of Us, which has already been confirmed alongside the recent The Last Of Us Part 2 news.
The job listing requests that the applicants be ready to hop into systems such as server technologies, core game networking, player data storage, matchmaking, and virtual transactions in digital stores. All of these items are used in modern online multiplayer games, particularly the option to make virtual transactions.
As I mentioned above, it has already been confirmed that there will be an online offering for The Last Of Us 2 that should arrive separately from the core game. The multiplayer mode, known as Factions, was omitted from the core game in favour of building a more complete story for players to enjoy. However, Naughty Dog knows how passionate their The Last Of Us multiplayer community is, which is why they’re creating something special separately from the core game of the sequel.
