Sony has released a small new firmware update for the PS4 family of systems: version 4.73. This new update doesn’t do much, as noted by its incredibly tiny set of patch notes. According to Sony, this newest update “improves the quality of the system performance.” Going by that, it seems like all this update does is improve stability and speed; not a big deal, but appreciated nonetheless.

If you haven’t downloaded the update already, then grab it now. At only 325MB, it should be a pretty speedy download.

There’s a much bigger system update currently in the works, which will push the firmware up to version 5.0. That big update is scheduled for later this year and is currently being beta-tested. The release of version 4.73 indicates that the bigger update must be near completion.
