Team Ninja’s Nioh 2 will be starting an open beta test from November 1 to November 10, and the news comes via a tweet from the official PlayStation Twitter account following the conclusion of Tokyo Game Show 2019.

With its latest trailer making its debut via a leak and officially at TGS, it appears that the action and speed that fans have come to love about the original will get even better in the upcoming sequel. A closed alpha was held earlier this year to give players a taste of what is to come.
First announced back at Sony’s E3 2018 press conference, Nioh 2 will star your own created character instead of the hero from the original, William. The created avatar will be half-human, half-Yokai, and will have more Yokai powers to call upon this time around.
A preview by Game Informer appears to paint Nioh 2 as both a prequel to the first game, as well as a standalone entry. As producer Fumihiko Yasuda puts it,
The big historical storyline is going to be that [Toyotomi] Hideyoshi, one of the greatest Japanese warlords, was actually two people – that includes you and Toukichiro, and you two will be Hideyoshi together and that sort of ties into the core of the story.
Toukichiro is another important character you will meet in the game, and Yasuda stated that he was based on a historical figure, likely to be Hideyoshi as he went by a similar name.
Nioh 2 is launching on the PS4 in early 2020.
