A new rumor suggests that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 from Insomniac Games is targeting a Christmas 2021 release window.

This news comes from the latest Kinda Funny Gamescast, where Imran Khan, a former News Writer for Game Informer states that he believes Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a “Christmas 2021 title.” He then goes on to state he knows too much about the game to speculate too much. He ends the statement with “Spider-Man 2 will come sooner than we think.”

This would mark three years between the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man and the sequel, which is actually a surprisingly short development cycle for a big, triple-A game these days. However, the success of the first game and the subsequent purchase of Insomniac Games by Sony earlier this year suggests that the studio likely began work on the sequel soon after the original game’s release.

Marvel’s Spider-Man released in September 2018 and has become one of the PS4’s best selling exclusives. In our review, we stated: “It is a fantastic game. Combat is off-the-wall fun, web-swinging is amazing, and the open world is fantastically designed. The heroes and villains are extremely well done. There are so many jaw-dropping moments throughout a playthrough.” You can read our full review here.

Marvel’s Spider-Man is available now on PS4. A sequel is likely in development at Insomniac Games.
