If you’ve seen the last few E3’s, or PlayStation Experience events, chances are you’ve seen Shawn Layden on stage wearing a throwback PlayStation t-shirt. Well, those days are officially over!
Today, on Twitter, the official PlayStation account announced that Shawn Layden will be leaving his post as Chairman of SIE (Sony Interactive Entertainment) Worldwide Studios.
It is with great emotion that we announce that Worldwide Studios Chairman Shawn Layden will be departing SIE. His visionary leadership will be greatly missed. We wish him success in future endeavors and are deeply grateful for his years of service. Thanks for everything, Shawn!

Shawn Layden replaced Jack Tretton as President and CEO of SCEA (Sony Computer Entertainment America now rebranded as SIE), back in 2014. Prior to this, Layden joined Sony way back in 1987 in Tokyo, Japan, as the Communications Assistant for Sony co-founder Akiro Morita.
For now, there are currently no successor named by PlayStation/Sony to replace Layden.
Earlier this year, Layden addressed the attendees of the DICE awards to talk about the gaming industry, and how it has matured beyond being seen as a childish pastime.
Wherever you end up, Shawn, we wish you nothing but the best!
