Alien Isolation

For those who weren’t already excited enough about Sega’s upcoming Alien Isolation, the announcement of two pre-order exclusive missions set during the events of the original 1979 Alien is likely to send fans into a state of absolute hysteria.

Not only is the DLC set on board the iconic spaceship the Nostromo, but it will also see almost the entire original cast reprise their roles from the Ridley Scott classic.¬†Sigourney Weaver (Ripley), Tom Skerritt (Dallas), Veronica Cartwright (Lambert), Harry Dean Stanton (Brett), and Yaphet Kotto (Parker) will all return, with only Ian Holm’s Ashe being portrayed by a soundalike.

Only available through pre-ordering, the two missions will allow you to explore (or more realistically cower and hide in) faithful recreations of the original film’s sets of the Nostromo from its habitation deck all the way down to engineering.

The first mission is called Crew Expendable and is set just after Brett’s death in the original film. This mission will see you play as either Ripley, Dallas or Parker as you try to co-ordinate your team to lure the alien out of the air vents so it can be jettisoned out into space through one of the air locks. Apparently, the perspective of the mission along with what resources you start with will change depending on which character you choose to play as.

The second pre-order mission is called Last Survivor and is set during the film’s climatic set piece in which Ripley must activate the ship’s self destruct sequence and reach the Narcissus shuttle in order to escape. Although whether Jones the cat will make a cameo has yet to be confirmed.

Anyone who pre-orders the game will get a free upgrade to the ‘Nostromo Edition’, which will include the Crew Expendable mission as standard. However, the Last Survivor mission is only available through pre-order at ‘select retailers’ which are dependant on territory.

As a pre-order incentive it’s mightily enticing as Alien: Isolation will be released on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on October 7th.
