Sony is finally breaking the silence. It seems that even though it missed E3 2019, it’s not in its plans to skip any other summer convention. Through several sources, Sony’s attendance to ChinaJoy, TGS and Gamescom is now confirmed.
Sony is not only going to be present at ChinaJoy 2019. They are also going to host a two-hour conference in the event. ChinaJoy takes place in Shanghai, China. In addition, it is the region’s largest expo dedicated to digital entertainment. Sony’s conference at ChinaJoy will take place on August 1, 2019, at 5:30 PM GMT/12:30 PM CST.
There’s not much information to share about what Sony’s plans are for this conference. It is very likely that most of the news will focus on the Chinese market and revolve around PlayStation’s projects in the area. There are some teaser images that were shared on Twitter by Paul Hunter, Walmart Canada’s Senior Gaming Tech & Media Editor. These images showcase possible reveals for new titles, although, all of this is purely speculative.
Gamescom and TGS
Besides Sony’s attendance at ChinaJoy, its presence at Gamescom was also confirmed by the organizer’s official web site. In a press release detailing the official list of featured exhibitors, Sony PlayStation is now included as a participant. That’s the only details available at the moment in regards Sony’s participation in the German convention. Gamescom will take place in Germany, Cologne from August 21 to August 24.
According to TGS official site, Sony Interactive Entertainment has already reserved space for the event. SIE has spaced reserved in two areas of TGS so far, the Indie Game Corner and the Smartphone Games Corner. It is still early and Sony could announce additional information for the event, like a complete press presentation or even additional show floor space.
After all, it seems that Sony is not only going to remain with their State of Play streaming strategy. It’s still pending to see if they will use these events to present minor updates or to break big news in regards their most anticipated IPs or even PS5. All in all, it is exciting to see Sony come back to major events like ChinaJoy, TGS and Gamescom.
