The next huge update for Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is incoming in just a few hours. The Tidal Basin update will bring a new World Tier, Invasion missions, more weapons and gear, and even more challenge to the shared world shooter.
In a blog post, Ubisoft shared that the first post-launch free content, Invasion: Battle for D.C., will add a new stronghold, Tidal Basin, which is controlled by the Black Tusk.
“Tidal Basin is now home to some of the most powerful enemies in the game, and they’re not going down easy,” Ubisoft says.
Completing the stronghold will bring you up to World Tier 5, and the possibility of getting gear scores up to 500. It will also unlock new weekly invasions that will be more difficult and gives better loot.
The Division 2‘s Invasion: Battle for D.C. will also be adding a new Heroic difficulty setting that will make for “some of the most challenging gameplay yet.”
Two new exotic weapons, Pestilence (LMG) and Nemesis (Sniper), along with gear sets True Patriot, Hardwired, and Ongoing Directive, will drop in the new update as well.
Fort McNair, a new map for The Division 2‘s PvP mode, Conflict, will also be added. A new Invasion Apparel Event will give players more opportunities to earn cosmetics.
Perhaps the most important news of all is that the first Raid, Operation Dark Hours, will be coming on April 25. An eight-player raid, it is “the toughest of all challenges,” and will “test the teamwork of the most experienced agents.”
Three more specializations will also be added, although no date has been specified.
Invasion: Battle for D.C. is the first of three free content drops for The Division 2 in its Year 1. The others include Episode 1: DC Outskirts Expedition (Summer 2019), Episode 2: Pentagon: The Last Castle (Fall 2019), and Episode 3 (Winter 2019).
