It would seem developers Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft are listening to community feedback about Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 with the latest update to the successful shooter. More transparency about loot drops will give players more freedom and agency when it comes to the loot grind in Title Update 6.
Set to launch in the near future, the update will allow players to target specific loot for drops as they play through missions, activities, and more throughout The Division 2. According to an official blog post, “every mission and named zone will have a specific type of loot associated with it. Several zones and missions might offer the same loot, and so you can choose which activity suits your playstyle best: replay missions or complete open-world activities in named zones if you’re after specific items.”
The best part about it is that targeted loot gives players a guaranteed drop from named bosses, and a smaller chance to be dropped from all NPCs and even containers. Even the Dark Zone will also have this mechanic, with the caveat being that it must be extracted before use.
This will also be represented on the game’s map, allowing players to see what is out there and where to go, as “large icons represent drops in named zones while smaller icons tell you which main missions offer which loot.”
All loot under this new system in The Division 2 will be scaled to your Gear Score to make the grind easier, and is good news for everyone trying to min-max their best builds.
The second episode of The Division 2, Pentagon: The Last Castle, is scheduled to launch this Fall.
