Left Behind, the DLC released last year for The Last of Us, will be released as standalone content on May 12. This means players will be able to experience the DLC without having bought The Last of Us. Arne Meyer made the announcement earlier today on the official Playstation blog.
Left Behind will be available for $9.99 on both Playstation 3 and Playstation 4. The original DLC will also have its price lowered to match.
“This is a nicely priced gateway to checking out the world and characters so many people (and critics) loved,” Meyer writes. “While part of the story of Left Behind takes place during the main narrative arc of The Last of Us, I think some of the best and most touching moments of any game in recent memory occur during the prequel segments.”
The standalone content will also include a two hour trial of The Last of Us “Factions Multiplayer” mode. And players will be able to upgrade Left Behind to include the full multiplayer mode or even the entirety of The Last of Us.
The Last of Us: Left Behind was released as DLC last year. Left Behind serves as a prequel to the main content of the game. It follows Ellie as she escapes a boarding school with her friend Riley before they part ways.
