A new leak has confirmed the existence of The Sims 4 Discovery University, the long rumours university expansion for The Sims 4 that many players have been hoping for. The most recent expansion for The Sims 4, Real of Magic, was well received, but fans have been after a university expansion for a very long time now, particularly since The Sims 3 had one. Now, a user on Twitter has captured images of The Sims 4 Discover University expansion on the Xbox One store in the US. Check out the images in the Tweet below and read on for more details.

While the expansion hasn’t appeared on European stores yet, these images are proof enough. The description for the expansion tells us that players will send their Sims to university in the expansion, where they’ll hit the books and show their school spirit. Sims enrol in college and make new experiences in the expansion, hinting at some of the mischief that Sims till be getting up to when they leave for university.
The expansion is set to release on the 17th of December 2019. While this probably won’t be the same for PlayStation 4, it’s likely that the expansion will come to Sony’s platform pretty soon after.
The expansion blurb for The Sims 4 University goes on to discuss how Sims will compete in school vs school competitions, and get to make choices that will affect their future. It’s possible to pursue a career at this stage in a Sim’s life with Discover University, with Sims enrolling for classes in everything from Dentistry to Coding. However, their performance at school will determine how well they do once they leave. If a Sim studies hard and puts in the work, they’ll be able to move along the career path they’ve chosen much faster, whereas they’ll struggle if they spend all night partying and doing no homework.
The description for The Sims 4 Discover University sounds as if it will add an entirely new story to a Sim’s life. They’ll leave home for university, and then players will be able to see them live out some of the best years of their lives. Much like how many real people feel that university was the best stage of their life, Sims players will be able to relive the experience over and over with new Sims as they grow up and leave home. How the mechanics fit in with other Sims ageing will be interesting, but I’m sure it will work in a way that doesn’t see family members suddenly age extremely fast once their children leave university.
