After losing its sixth director in Travis Knight, one would think the debacle that is the Uncharted movie would be put out of its misery. However, in a report by The Hollywood Reporter, it seems Venom and Zombieland‘s Ruben Fleischer might just be the seventh director to join the project.
With those two movies already under Sony, Fleischer is hardly uncharted territory for Sony, but so far, negotiations have yet to begin.
The film’s sixth director, Travis Knight, could no longer continue on the project with stars Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg due to scheduling conflicts. This has not deterred Sony, with reports suggesting that it is still on track with no big changes.
With Sony now having established PlayStation Productions, an in-house studio that will take charge of adapting its video games into movies, it is highly likely they need a win to get things off to a good start. The Uncharted movie will be a great property to kick things off with, and more Nathan Drake is always a good thing.
