Ubisoft has announced its financials for its first fiscal quarter ending on June 30th. After selling four million units in its first weekend, Watch Dogs has gone on to ship more than 8 million units since its launch in May. Keep in mind that this number is “units shipped” to retailers, not necessarily “units sold” to consumers.
Nevertheless, Ubisoft financials rose drastically in its first quarter year-over-year. In its first quarter, Ubisoft made $490 million in sales, a boost of over 374% from last year. In addition to Watch Dogs, Ubisoft released other strong releases during its first quarter including both Valiant Hearts and Trials Fusion. Overall, digital sales for Ubisoft rose 34% year-over-year. Not too shabby of a quarter for Ubisoft.
Ubisoft is planning to release several other heavy hitting games before the end of the year including their new IP The Crew as well as Assassin’s Creed Unity and Far Cry 4. Undoubtedly, Ubisoft is planning to have strong financials throughout the rest of the year.
