Zombie Army 4: Dead War will be launching for PlayStation 4 on the 4th of February 2020, meaning it launches in the same month as The Last Of Us Part 2. Witness the undead rising in the release date trailer below.
In Zombie Army 4: Dead War, players will be able to enjoy the same co-op gameplay as they’ve come to expect from the Zombie Army Trilogy, the zombie spin-off titles for each Sniper Elite game. This time, players are working to survive in Southern Europe, which has been occupied by Hitler’s army of undead nightmares.
According to those who played a demo of the game at E3 2019, there is a heavy 80’s movie influence in the game, most noticeable in the music that plays over the screams of the living dead. The gameplay remains the same as the rest of the series, players must work through each area by picking off the undead and surviving waves of them as they attack.
There are a number of variations within Hitler’s undead army. In the trailer, we see the basic zombie that simply shambles around, easy to hit with a car or a bullet. There are also exploding zombies, which look terrifying. These enemies will run at the living and attempt to murder them as they blow up. Another zombie variant was a melee specialist, which seemed to have organic knives instead of arms. This enemy looks like it will rush players and try to deal as much damage as possible.
The other melee-specialist zombie is a big creature that looks like it can take a lot of damage. The beast wields some sort of saw, and flings it into the players near them. Finally, there is an occult leader zombie that seems to be able to both summon zombies, and buff those around it to deal more damage.
Right at the end of the trailer, we can see Zombie Hitler himself floating above his legion of undead. Hitler is likely to be a boss character right at the end of the campaign for Zombie Army 4: Dead War, but there are going to be a number of other bosses along the way. Most notable among the larger enemies in the trailer is a tank that’s held together by human flesh. This zombie tank can still fire, and will need to be taken out with tactical sniper shots.
The release date trailer for Zombie Army 4: Dead War also includes a look at the game’s collector’s edition. This premium version of the game comes with a Zombie Shark figure, an exclusive collectors box, the Undead Airman Character Pack, an art book, and a steelbook case.
The Zombie Army franchise takes many liberties with the Sniper Elite characters and world. It will be interesting to see what other horrors await us in Zombie Army 4: Dead War when the game launches early next year. A pre-order bonus has been revealed, which gives anyone who orders the game ahead of the release date free access to the Undead Airman Character Pack DLC.
